Cheer skirts too short for school?

Apparently.

From  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2037047/Cheerleaders-told-cover-principal-says-new-skirts-short-class.html

So basically the principal at this school (not my kid's school) is saying that since the skirts don't meet the fingertip rule, they can't be worn during class hours.

Can I just say AMEN!!

My daughter does competitive cheer, and the skirts are short to accommodate their stunts and moves.  I get that.  However, it is athletic garb and should only be worn for the purpose of competing.

Is wearing them during school hours just showing team spirit?  Or showing just a little bit more...?

  1. I know the old pleated cheerleading skirts are considerably out of style, but that's what I had as a cheerleader. They adhered to the fingertip rule, and they still accommodated our stunts and moves because they were pleated rather than tight. I can't imagine cheering in todays skirts--far too skimpy for my taste.
